TCM Manipulative Orthopedics Dept

Introduction
The Department of TCM Manipulative Orthopedics of PLA General Air Force Hospital was established in 1984. The department was granted as “PLA Clinical Center of Traditional Chinese Manipulative Orthopedics” by the General Logistic Department of PLA in 1986 and officially recognized as “Spine Center of Manipulative Therapy of China State Administration of TCM” in 2002. The department has been collaborated with many famous medical universities in China for postgraduate education and Ph. D. education, such as the Fourth Military Medical University, the Dalian Medical University and Beijing TCM University ever since 1988.The department was officially granted as a workstation for pursuing postdoctoral scientific research in 2006 by China State Ministry of Health.
Now there are 17 surgeons and 18 nurses working for the department. About half of the surgeons are doctorial or master’s degree holders. The department has 75 beds. Now there are 3 doctorial and master’s tutors in the department.
The Feng’s Spinal Manipulation (FSM) therapy was appraised by the National Congress of Science in 1978 as one of great contributions in the history of health care of New China. Professor Feng was appraised as an “Outstanding Scientist of the Nation” by Health Ministry of China Central Government and a “National Master of Chinese Medicine” by CSACM. Later in 1986, the FSM therapy was honored as First Prize of the Military Awards for Advances in Science & Technology. The surgeons in the center have written more than 100 papers either in Chinese or English for medical journals at home and abroad, and published a dozen monographs about spine problems in the past 20 years.

Feng Tianyou
Honorary Chairman of World Manipulative Medicine Association; Director of Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine; Consultant of PLA TCM association; Consultant of the Orthopedics and Traumatology Committee, Chinese Association of the Integration of Traditional and Western Medicine. Chief physician, professor, vice president of Air Force General Hospital, chief expert of Air Force, PLA famous doctor of Chinese Medicine. Professor Feng Tianyou has served on the editorial boards of numerous journals, including Medical Journal of Chinese People’s Liberation Army, China Journal of Orthopedics and Traumatology, etc. He has been devoted to the basic and clinical researches in the field of soft tissue injury related to spine. He put forward the theory of “FSM” therapy in 1975, which creatively focus on the vertebra subluxation as key point in the pathological biomechanics of spine problems. He is a well-known specialist in manipulative orthopedics in China. He has also published 40 articles and 4 books, and is a recipient of a number of awards, including once being awarded First Prize of the PLA Awards for Advances in Science & Technology.

Zhao Ping
Vice-chairman of China Tui Na Association of Chinese Medicine; vice-chairman of China Spinal Manipulation Association of Chinese Medicine; Chairman of Beijing Massage Association of Chinese Medicine; vice-chairman of PLA TCM Manipulation & Massage Association of Chinese Medicine. Chief physician.  Professor and director of PLA Research Center of TCM Manipulative Orthopedics, Air Force General Hospital. Professor Zhao has served on the editorial boards of numerous journals, including China Journal of Orthopedics and Traumatology, the Beijing Journal of Chinese Medicine, the Journal of Air Force Medicine, etc. He has been devoted to the basic and clinical researches in the field of soft tissue injury related to spine. He is a well-known doctor in the field of manipulative orthopedics in China. He has also published more than 50 papers and many medical books in terms of spine problem and clinical research. He has been lectured and welcomed abroad and at home for modern Chinese spinal manipulative therapy and received a number of awards from PLA for Military Medical Achievement Award. 

Feng Wei

Liu Xiaolin
Council member of Beijing Massage Association of Chinese Medicine; Standing Committee of PLA TCM Manipulation & Massage Association of Chinese Medicine. Chief physician, associate director of PLA Research Center of TCM Manipulative Orthopedics, Air Force General Hospital. He has been devoted to the clinical researches in the field of soft tissue injury related to spine. He is a well-known specialist in manipulative orthopedics in China. He has also published widely, being first author of 20 articles, and is recipient of a number of awards, including twice being awarded the Military Medical Achievement Award (second class and fourth class).

Chen Lijun
Member of China Association of Chinese Medicine, associate chief physician. Professor Chen Lijun has been devoted to the basic and clinical researches in the field of soft tissue injury related to spine. He is a well-known specialist in manipulative orthopedics in China. He has also published widely, being first author of 15 articles. He has been in charge of aircrew patients for about 20 years, for his well-known manipulating skills, and has received officers and soldiers’ praise.

Feng Yu
Associate chief physician. He has served on the editorial board of the Journal of Cervicodynia and Lumbodynia. He has been devoted to the basic and clinical researches in the field of soft tissue injury related to spine. He is a well-known specialist in manipulative orthopedics in China. He has also published widely, being first author of 20 articles.

Gao Yue
Associate chief physician. He is a well-known specialist in spinal manipulative therapy in China. He has been devoted to the clinical researches in the field of soft tissue injury related to spine. He has also published widely, being first author of 20 articles.

Liu Yishan
Associate chief physician. He has been devoted to the clinical researches in the field of soft tissue injury related to spine. He is a well-known specialist in manipulative orthopedics in China. He has also published more than 30 papers and 4 medical books in terms of spine problems.

Guo Wei
Young member of the Cervical Spondylosis Committee, Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, associate chief physician. Zha Qing
Attending physician. He has been working in PLA Research Center of TCM Manipulative Orthopedics, Air Force General Hospital since he graduated from the Fourth Military Medical University in 1987. He is a well-known specialist in manipulative orthopedics.

Wei Jie
